I must first take this moment to express my deep appreciation for Matthew Vaughn’s casting choices.  Let’s take a moment of silence to thank him. [Bow your head, take 5 seconds to thank God, Allah, Buddha, yourself, whatever supreme force or being you pray to!]
Now…James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender as the young versions of the Professor and Magneto? Really?  Really!  What girl of any age (my twelve year old and I felt equally envious), wouldn’t want to be Mystique in this film?  Jennifer Lawrence, you are a lucky, lucky girl!  I thought Lara Flynn Boyle (Threesome, 1994) and Kristin Kreuk (Smallville Series) were lucky girls, but Jen, you win!  I would also like to give a shout out to young Erik, otherwise known as Bill Milner…yum!
Not only were the actors incredibly hot, but they also did a wonderful job in delivering this story.  If I had read comic books as a kid, I would imagine X-men being my favorite…the variety and character development of the superheroes and super villains absorbs you into this mutant world.  After seeing all the films, and understanding the different sides to these characters, I would say that X-men: First Class does an excellent job in filling in the gaps, and helping the audience understand the relationship between the Professor and Magneto, how they each evolved into the powerful beings they are, and how, like most, they went from spiritual brothers to adversaries…a relationship that taps into the fine line between love and hate, the underlying admiration that is always quietly present, and your soul’s recognition of someone that has traveled with you for eons.  Ok, that was a deep moment…did I mention how hot James McAvoy is? Sizzle sizzle and I’m not referring to Azazel, that strange devilish super villain!

I give X-men: First Class 3.5 Red-hot colored mutant kisses!
